There are 3 reasons golfers come to see me for golf lessons. Number 1 is always gaining consistency. #2 Is to avoid embarrassment on the course and #3 would be keeping up with their friends, spouses or co-workers! Most every lesson I will do the swing bottom test with Dr. Scholl’s foot powder. In the video below, I will show you how to use the foot powder for this unique but effective drill.
The #1 Fundamental in golf is where the bottom of the swing is occurring. Most high handicap player and even mid and low handicap players will miss the ball because of a faulty bottom to their swing. The high handicap or beginner will have the most difficulty in creating a bottom to their swing in the correct spot. Most of the poorer ball strikers will contact the ground with an iron well behind the ball. They also may even whiff the ball. Hardly ever does a player who is having difficulty hit to far in front of the ball.
Watch the video below to see how the Doctor can change your game for the better!
The golfer who can demonstrate the bottom of the swing to be on the target side of the ball is at an expert level or highly experienced. To play good golf you need to demonstrate a consistent bottom to your swing, a predictable ball flight and enough distance to play a golf course of significant distance. This drill will help you gain all three of the above. To have the bottom of the swing forward you will probably have your weight forward at impact and your arms straighter after impact. You will have a feeling of compressing the golf ball on the club face. We all love the feeling of a well struck golf shot! That’s what we live for in the golfing world!
At Deer Creek Golf Club in Deerfield Beach, Florida many of my students come from all around the South Florida areas including Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, Boynton Beach, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale. Some of my students will fly in from all around the United States and over seas. I love teaching all types of players. Beginners golfers, low handicap, mid handicap, high handicap or the golfer just looking to gain competence and consistency on the course.
Thank you again for reading the Jess Frank Golf Academy blog on my website and social media outlets. I am trying to build a community of golfers I can help get better, lower handicaps, hit better shots or just enjoy the game a little more. There is nothing that makes me happier than a golfer who leaves my lesson and says I can’t wait to play or practice again!
Please feel free to share this blog post with the golfer who you think might gain a shot or two:) Looking forward to seeing you on the course or lesson tee soon!
