This is one of the most effective yet simple drills I will use with my students. The box drill will help you no matter if you are a single digit golfer or a beginner golfer. Your swing path and club face will change immediately.
Do you slice the ball? The reason you are slicing is the club is swinging to much from out to in or to the left. The club head is swinging from outside the target across to the inside of the target line. The path is left so the ball will most likely spin to the right. The box will force you to swing more from the inside of the target line and down the target line.
Do you hook the ball to much? You are swinging your golf club to much in to out. Or from inside the target line to outside of the target line. When your golf club swings to much in to out the club face will close to quickly almost like a screw driver. You will see pulls, fat shots or even thin shots.
Watch the following video to see how you can use the box drill to improve your game!
I have been to PGA Tour events and watched players at the highest level practice with a head cover, alignment sticks, shoe box or 2×4 next to the ball. Every golfer usually has a head cover. Take your head cover off your driver and lay it down just outside of your golf ball and watch your ball striking improve immediately.
The box drill will help you no matter what level of player you might be!
